Well, the good news the aftershocks did not slow down and the world
number is creeping back up. But, it is still low. It seems as if the
small aftershocks are around the outbreak of 5's from last week.  I
think this trend will continue for the next 72 hours.

California is starting to get a series of 3's.  This is a little larger
quakes than in the last few months. Since Calif. Number is low, keep an
eye out for a 5.

Lot's of little aftershocks from the 5's are moving the world number up,
especially in Haiti.  But no aftershocks from the 4's in Mexico.  Keep
your eye out for a 5 in Calif.  Yesterday, I said a 7 in 48 hours, if
the aftershocks slow down expect a 7 in 24 hours otherwise we'll
continue to see increase in small size shakes.

Aftershocks are finally occurring from the series of 5's last week by
Australia. This is helping keep the World number steady. It is still low
and therefore I'd be concern about some of these 5's being a prequake.
Note - Crete just had a 5 an hour ago.  But no 6+'s. Hopefully, we just
get a lot more 5's. If we don't we will see a 7+ within 48 hours.

California is getting a little more active.  Lots of little shaking is
better than no shaking.  So, the increase in 3's is a good thing.
Ideally, California will get over 500. If not, I believe it is more
vulnerable than usual. Again, watch for the 5's.

World number unusually low and will be until more aftershocks from the
series of 5's or a 7+ occurs.  Note that the 5+ outbreak, which started
in Asia last week, is spreading to South America and one in Canada.

The effect on California seems to be some increase in activity with a
few 3+.  This has not happened in a couple of months. So, California is
starting to see mild increase in activity. I am keeping my eye out for a
5 in California.  That could be a pre-quake if isolated.

World: 190
Calif: 396

There have been very few earthquakes in the last two days.  This means the number will drop today by at least 10 if there is not another 6+ earthquake or a series of 5’s. My guess is if we see an isolated  5+ earthquake it could be a pre-quake.  If it is in California, I’d assume it is a pre-quake.  California is relatively quiet.  Again, this is based on years of observation.

There will be another 6+ in the next 48 hours.  With California’s number low, I hope it is not there.

UPDATE: 6.1 in Alaska in the last hour.  Hopefully the aftershocks raise the world total to over 200…..
